Removal

Front Door Sill Trim - 2-Door |

Remove the front door sill trim (A).
|
|

Front Door Sill Trim - 4-Door |

Remove the front door sill trim (A).
|
|
|
|

|
Pull out the front door opening seal (A) as needed.
|
|
2.
|
Remove the kick panel (B).
|
|
|
|
1.
|
Disconnect the connectors.
|
|
2.
|
Remove the EPS control unit (A).
|
|
Installation
|
|
1.
|
Install the EPS control unit (A).
|
|
2.
|
Connect the connectors.
|
|
|
|
1.
|
Install the kick panel (A).
|
|
2.
|
Install the front door opening seal (B) as needed.
|
|

Install the front door sill trim (A).

1.
|
Install the front door sill trim (A).
|
|
|
|

|
Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located
under the driver's side of the dashboard.
|
|
2.
|
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
|
|
3.
|
Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle. If it does not
communicate, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting.
|
|

EPS Torque Sensor Neutral Position - Memorizing |
|
|
|
The torque sensor neutral position must be memorized
whenever the steering gearbox, the EPS motor, or the EPS
control unit is replaced. Note that the torque sensor neutral
position is not affected when erasing the DTC.
|
|
|
|
The torque sensor is temperature sensitive. When memorizing
the torque sensor neutral position, the ambient temperature
must be above 68 °F (20 °C).
|
|
|

Select EPS ADJUSTMENT, then select TORQUE SENSOR LEARN with HDS,
and follow the screen prompts.

NOTE: See the HDS Help menu for specific instructions.
|

EPS Control Unit After Install - Check |
|
|
1.
|
After installation, check these items:
|
|
|
Start the engine, allow it to idle, and turn
the steering wheel from lock to lock several times.
|
|
|
|
Check that the EPS indicator does not come on.
|
|
|
|

NOTE: Do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials to enter the
steering gearbox.
