Remove the center console panel (A).

For some models: Disconnect the connector(s) (B).

Remove the cup holder panel assembly (A).

Disconnect the connector (B).
|

Remove the console box mat (A).

Disconnect the connector (A).

|
|
|
6.
|
Remove the center console (A), in the numbered sequence shown.

Remove the rear heater joint duct (A).
|
|

Shift Cable - Disconnection Lever Side |
Type A shift lever
Type B shift lever

|
1.
|
Shift the shift lever to R.
|
|
2.
|
Insert a 6.0 mm (0.236 in) pin (A) into the positioning holes
(B).
|
|
NOTE: Use only a 6.0 mm (0.236 in) pin with no burrs.
|
|
3.
|
Remove the nut (C) securing the shift cable end (D).
|
|
|
|
4.
|
Unlock the retainer lock (A).
|
|
|
|
5.
|
Rotate the socket holder retainer (A) counterclockwise (B) until
it stops, and push the retainer lock (C) into the socket holder
retainer to lock the retainer.
|
|

6.
|
Slide the socket holder (A) away from the bracket as shown to
remove the shift cable (B) from the shift cable bracket (C).
|
|
NOTE: Do not remove the shift cable by pulling the shift cable
guide (D).
|

Raise The Vehicle On The Lift |

|
1.
|
Raise the vehicle on the lift.
|
|
|

Remove the shift cable cover (A).
|
|

Shift Cable - Disconnection A/T Side |

|
1.
|
Pry down the lock tab of the lock washer (A).
|
|
2.
|
Remove the lock bolt (B) and the lock washer.
|
|
3.
|
Separate the shift cable (C) from the selector control shaft
(D).
|
|
NOTE: Do not bend the shift cable excessively.
|
|
4.
|
Remove the shift cable holder (E).
|
|
|
|

|
Remove the heat shield (A).
|
|
|
|
2.
|
Remove the shift cable bracket (A).
|
|
3.
|
Remove the shift cable grommet (B), and pull out the shift cable
(C).
|
|
NOTE: Do not bend the shift cable excessively.
|
|
|
1.
|
Insert the shift cable (A) through the grommet hole (B), and install
the shift cable grommet (C) in its hole.
|
|
NOTE: Do not bend the shift cable excessively.
|
|
2.
|
Install the shift cable bracket (D).
|
|
|
3.
|
Install the heat shield (A).

Install the shift cable holder (A).
|
|
2.
|
Install the control lever (B) over the selector control shaft
(C).
|
|
NOTE: Do not bend the shift cable excessively.
|
|
3.
|
Install the lock bolt (D) using a new lock washer (E).
|
|
4.
|
Pry up the lock tab (F) of the lock washer against the bolt head.

Install the shift cable cover (A).
|

Shift Cable - Adjustment |
|
|
1.
|
Push the shift cable (A) until it stops, then release it. Pull
the shift cable back one step so that the shift position is in R.
|
|
NOTE: Do not hold the shift cable guide (B) to adjust the shift
cable.
|
|
|
|
2.
|
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
|
|
3.
|
Check that the R position indicator comes on.
|
|

4.
|
Align the shift cable slot (A) between the socket holder (B)
and the socket holder retainer (C) with the opening (D) in the shift
cable bracket (E), then slide the holder into the bracket while
installing the shift cable end (F) over the mounting stud (G) by
aligning its square hole (H) with the square fitting (I) at the
bottom of the stud.

NOTE:
|
|
|
Do not install the shift cable by holding the
shift cable guide (J).
|
|
|
|
When the socket holder is installed in the shift
cable bracket, the retainer lock is unhinged and
releases the holder retainer lock, then the holder
retainer returns under spring force to secure the
shift cable.
|
|
|
|
|
|

Push the retainer lock (A) fully to lock the socket holder retainer
(B), and make sure that the retainer lock fits into the hinged-joint
(C). If the retainer lock does not fit with the edge of the hinged-joint,
rotate the holder retainer counterclockwise while pushing the retainer
lock until it locks.
|

|
|

Make sure that the shift cable end (A) is properly installed
on the mounting stud (B).
|
|
|
If the shift cable end is out of position with
the mounting stud, remove the shift cable from the
shift cable bracket, then reinstall the cable end
over the mounting stud before reinstalling the shift
cable to the shift cable bracket. Do not install
the shift cable end on the mounting stud with the
shift cable install on the shift cable bracket.
|
|
|
|
If the shift cable end does not ride at the bottom
of the mounting stud, rotate the stud to align the
square fitting with the hole.
|
|
|

7.
|
Install the shift cable end nut (A).
|
|
8.
|
Remove the 6.0 mm (0.236 in) pin (B) that was installed to hold
the shift lever.
|
|
9.
|
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
|
|
10.
|
Move the shift lever to each position, and check that the A/T
gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
|
|
11.
|
Shift the shift lever to P.
|
|
12.
|
Check that the shift lock works properly.
|
|
13.
|
Push the shift lock release, and check that the shift lever releases.
Also check that the shift lever locks when it is shifted back to
P.
|

Install the rear heater joint duct (A).

1.
|
Install the center console (A), in the numbered sequence shown.
|

|
2.
|
Connect the connector (A).
|

|
3.
|
Install the bolts (A).
|
|
4.
|
Install the console box mat (B).
|
|

Connect the connector (A).

Install the bolts (B).
